Reminder: Walmart+ is up for renewal soon (for those who got in on Dec 2020 deals)

I wanted to post a quick reminder for all those who got in on the incredible Walmart+ deals last December: auto renewal is probably set to process in a few days. If you aren’t looking to continue paying the annual subscription rate of $98, don’t forget to cancel now.

As you can see above, Walmart was about to give me a Christmas present: a $98 charge on my credit card on December 25th. Ho, ho, ummmno.

I will of course cancel my annual subscription. That’s not because I don’t want Walmart+ but because I’d rather not pay for it. Thankfully, Amex has my back on that. The Platinum Card from American Express recently added a monthly credit for Walmart+ membership that is billed monthly. I therefore definitely don’t want to be on the annual plan.

I don’t see a way to change from annual to monthly billing apart from cancelling Walmart+ and signing back up, but that’s fine with me.

I know that many other readers are likely to be in the same boat. The December 2020 membership deals were profitable with some chances to come out $20 or $30 ahead on the first year, but those who have consumer Platinum cards will want to make a change (or those who signed up just for the slightly profitable first year may want to avoid going into the red on year #2). I normally set a phone reminder to cancel stuff like this, but I didn’t in this case. Luckily, it just popped into my might this morning that it must be due for renewal soon and when I saw how soon I thought it was worth a reminder.

Another heads up, this benefit is only on Personal Platinum cards, not Business ones. Don’t ask how I know.

Thanks for the reminder Nick!

As always, thanks for the heads up! I never did get the proper reimbursement for signing up last year.

Heads up, you can use the Amex Platinum enrollment link for Walmart+, login to your existing Walmart+ account that you signed up for with this deal, and at your annual expiration it will automatically move you to the monthly plan that’s auto-reimbursed. It will have you enter your Amex info, and same household with different first name went through just fine. Surprisingly seamless!

Thanks Nick! I had the membership on two separate platinum cards. Just canceled the subscriptions. Thanks again, you guys saved me some moolah!!! 🙂

Thanks for this. I was 99% sure that I had changed my account to NOT autorenew, but I just checked and saw that it was scheduled to charge me again soon so I cancelled. For those wondering: when you cancel early, you do keep the service until your year is up.

Also, for those having trouble finding the place to go, here’s a link to manage your Walmart+ subscription: https://www.walmart.com/account/plus/manage
