Capital One has announced its latest transfer bonus: Get a 25% transfer bonus when transferring Capital One Miles (from the Venture or Spark Miles cards) to Avianca LifeMiles when you transfer between July 1st at 12:01 AM ET to July 31st at 11:59 PM ET. With this bonus, the transfer ratio is 2:1.876. As a confirmed fan of the LifeMiles program, I’m glad to see Capital One offering a transfer bonus. More importantly, I’m glad to see continued transfer bonuses for the Venture and Spark Miles cards as this continues to strengthen the value proposition of the cards.

The Deal

  • Get a 25% transfer bonus when you transfer Capital One Venture Miles or Capital One Spark Miles to Avianca LifeMiles
  • With the bonus, the ration will be 2:1.876 or 1,000 Capital One Miles = 936 Avianca LifeMiles

Key Terms

  • Valid for transfers made from July 1st at 12:01 AM ET to July 31st at 11:59 PM ET

Quick Thoughts

Since the Venture and Spark Miles cards each earn two Capital One Miles per dollar spent, this bonus gives cardholders an effective return of 1.876 miles per dollar spent if they are able to take advantage of the transfer bonus within the eligible window (note that this bonus starts tomorrow).

We’ve written a number of posts on LifeMiles that are worth checking out for those with Capital One miles as this can certainly be a way to get much more value out of your miles than the traditional option of using those Capital One Miles to reimburse travel charges. See these posts:

Overall, it’s great to see these transfer bonuses continue. When Capital One announced its first transfer bonus, they were adamant that they were committed to offering bonuses like this and we’ve seen them continue to make good on that promise. That’s encouraging for the future value of Capital One Miles.

Note that if you’re just a few miles short of an award, one nice advantage with Capital One is that Capital One Miles post to your account within 1-3 days after pending charges post to your account, so it’s pretty easy to rack of miles quickly mid-month — no need to wait until the end of your statement cycle.

See the full list of Capital One transfer partners here. As always, we have added this to our list of current point transfer bonuses.

Nick, based upon your past posts, I have checked for United flights on the Lifemiles website and have had difficulty finding the same business/first saver fares that I’ve seen on United’s website (the green ones on United’s website). I know the Lifemiles website is known to not show everything, but I am striking out on almost everything I’ve checked to three separate destinations I am researching (Cleveland, Hawaii, and Liberia, Costa Rica). Granted there are many other date and city combinations that I have not checked, but am I missing something, or is this to be expected?

On a plus side, I did see last minute Lufthansa first from Houston, so that is worth future consideration…
