As reported by Doctor of Credit, Amex has clarified the changes in the 50% pay-with-points rebate for those who upgraded other cards to the Enhanced Business Platinum card. As you’ll recall, we reported last Friday that Amex is ending this popular benefit on June 1st for existing cardholders, but that the @AskAmex twitter team confirmed that new cardholders whose account opening date is between October 2016 and May 31, 2017 would keep the benefit, uncapped, for 12 months from the date of account opening.
Yesterday, the @AskAmex twitter team confirmed that accounts upgraded between October 2016 and May 31, 2017 will keep the uncapped 50% pay-with-points rebate for 1 year from the date of upgrade (after which the rebate will drop to 35% and be capped at a maximum of 500,000 rebated points per year).
Ultimately, this is good news for those who have upgraded or are considering an upgrade. See the Doctor of Credit post for more information.

Hey Nick,
I upgraded my card from Gold to Platinum on September 28th… do you think it’s possible for me to downgrade the card back to Gold (or Green) and then re-upgrade to platinum before May 31st?
I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that is possible.
