Update: Several readers have reported seeing this offer on Everyday and Everyday Preferred cards as well. An extra 4X on a card that already bonuses gas purchases would be huge. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for this offer.

This is a great offer if you’ve got it. The reader who passed it along received this offer on a Business Platinum card, so the 1X everyday earnings on that card combined with the 4X bonus equals a total of 5X on gas station purchases. If you were able to find this offer on a card that bonuses gas station spend, it could be even better. This one appears to be highly targeted — we didn’t find it on any of our Membership Rewards cards in my family. It’s worth logging in to see if you are targeted. According to our Reasonable Redemption Values, Membership Rewards points should be worth about 1.82 cents each on average — meaning that 5X on gas is worth more than 9.1 cents per dollar. A return of more than 9% on gas is great. Of course, the value will depend on how you use and value your points. Even with a low valuation per point, this offer is quite good.

Single most lucrative CC deal I’ve ever done. Local gas chain sells VGCs which accrue “fuel perks” upon purchase, and thus the VGC fees are more than offset by the free gas. The gas stations are also often accompanied by a grocery store which accepts VGCs for MOs. Have put $50k on PRG at 6x MR points and plan to buy another 15k this week. Also will be able to extend the deal by buying grocery store gift cards at gas station which can then be used at a later date to buy more VGCs.
