There is a new targeted Amex Offer out this morning that’s good for $50 back on $250 or more at HP (enrollment required). It’s too bad this offer is only valid for about 6 weeks as that means it’ll end before holiday sales pick up, but this could nonetheless make for a nice savings if you’ll be making a purchase from HP.

  • Terms state this is only valid at hp.com/go/amex, though in the past clicking through a shopping portal to HP has worked

  • See offer terms for full details

Quick Thoughts

I found this offer only on the Blue Business Plus this morning, but it is certainly possible that it is targeted on other cards.

Shopping portal rates for HP aren’t particularly good right now, but we sometimes see them hit double digits (including through Rakuten). If you’re buying from HP, keep in mind that you may be able to register for an HP Private Store discount program that yields a small discount. On the other hand, I ultimately did better getting mine open box at Best Buy. For what it’s worth, I’ve mostly been happy with my HP Spectre — it’s not perfect, but I probably use it for more hours per day than the average laptop owner and it’s holding up well so far.

That said, if I were buying a laptop right now, I’d be comparing against the deals you can stack at Lenovo. Between an Amex Offer, a coupon code, and shopping portal you may be able to stack a bigger discount. See this post for some more info on things to try to stack.
