Amex Application Tips
- Safe to Apply: Amex is the safest bank for trying your luck at earning a new welcome bonus offer. They don’t usually issue a hard pull when denying your application, and if you already have an Amex card, they won't usually issue a hard pull when approved for another one. Plus, they’ll now warn you during the application process if you’re not eligible for the bonus.
- Lifetime Rule: If you've ever had the same card before, you are most likely prohibited from earning a welcome bonus offer for the card if you apply now. Fortunately you'll be warned during the application process if this is the case. Amex is known to "forget" that you've had a card after about 7 years.
- 90 Day Rule: You can get at most two credit cards within 90 days. This rule does not apply to Pay Over Time (charge) cards. You're can only get the same card once every 90 days.
- 5 credit card max: Amex usually won't approve applications for new credit cards if you already have 5 or more Amex credit cards or 10 or more charge cards.
- Better Offers: You may be able to get a better offer than the best available public offer. Details here.
- Hard inquiries combine into 1 when approved same day

not allowing me to receive welcome bonus due to marriot bonvoy card:
you are not eligible to receive the welcome offer because of certain limitations associated with previously or currently having the Marriott Bonvoy® Premier Plus Business Credit Card from Chase, Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Business Credit Card from Chase, Marriott Bonvoy Business® Credit Card from Chase, Marriott Rewards® Business Credit Card from Chase, Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Credit Card from Chase, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card from Chase, or a Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card from Chase.
Is anyone able to make referral links? I thought Amex was able to make a referral link for any card even if you don’t have it. I can’t seem to produce a referral link showing this card. My friend has this card, and can’t either.
That’s only for Membership Rewards-earning cards…and Amex sometimes takes away the ability to refer from some personal cards. What are you trying to refer from?
Referrals are showing up now. I think Amex took it away from everyone and now it’s restored.
I think the best recent offer is incorrect. I received 125k earlier this year.
I have this card. Is anyone looking for a referral? 😀
I don’t think the referrals are working. Are you able to refer?
On the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card, the $150 statement credit for “eligible” purchases – is that just the normal spending = the same $5,000 to get the Marriott points as usual and you just have to wait up to 3 months for the statement credit?
Glad I read the part about two consumer cards not stacking. I have the old SPG card and my 15 nights already posted. I’m also Gold due to United status. I was thinking about getting the no fee Marriott card for the additional 15 nights. I don’t think I’ll get the business card with the $125 fee. I’ll have Hyatt Globalist shortly and I’m Diamond on Hilton (Aspire card).
Although, getting enough points for a stay at St Regis Punta Mita as a Platinum is tempting!

I have the older SPG card. If I cancel that would I be eligible for the bonus on this new 100K card?
No. It’s considered the same card.
Sorry, I meant the expensive Lux card (now Brilliant) – but that doesn’t seem appealing anymore.
Thanks.
