Follow along here!

In the midst of the seemingly unending series of massive targeted offers for the American Express Business Platinum and Business Gold cards that we’ve been seeing lately, there is also another targeted offer available for the Blue Business Plus (BBP) card. Those folks that are targeted will earn 50,000 Membership Rewards points after $15,000 in purchases in the first 12 months and an additional 5,000 Membership Rewards points after adding an employee card and spending $1,000 within the first 12 months. The $1,000 on the employee card will count towards the $15,000 total spend.

P2 was targeted via pop-up this morning, but I found that I was targeted using the same link, even though I didn’t have pop-up on my account.

This isn’t the best offer that we’ve seen for the Blue Business Plus as we recently saw a similar offer for 80,000 MR rewards. That said, it is very good compared to what’s been available historically. The application terms for the offer do not seem to include typical once-in-a-lifetime language, so even if you have had the card before, you should be eligible for the welcome bonus (if targeted).

The Deal

  • Earn 50,000 Membership Rewards points after $15,000 in purchases within the first 12 months after approval for a new Blue Business Plus card and an additional 5,000 Membership Rewards points after adding an employee card and spending $1,000 within the first 12 months.

Link to log in and see if you are targeted (must log-in to Amex account to find out if you’re targeted)

You will need to log-in, then click the “apply” button to see if you’re targeted. If you don’t see the bonus on the landing page and/or get a message that says something along the lines of “Sorry, this offer is no longer available”, that means you’re not targeted.

Quick Thoughts

This is one of the better offers that we see for for this card. The Blue Business Plus often has no welcome bonus, and then it’s typically only been 10,000-15,000 bonus points after $3-5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months.

I’m a big fan of the Blue Business Plus. The card earns 2x on all spend (up to $50K in purchases per calendar year). That can make it a terrific “everywhere else” card for people who value Membership Rewards points and it’s also a useful backstop card since it has no annual fee but keeps Membership Rewards points alive and transferable to partners. Thus, there’s never any worry about cancelling a MR-earning card and losing points.

By meeting the terms of this bonus, you would end up with a total of 85,000 points in the first year between the normal 2x on the first $15K in purchases and the 60k welcome bonus. That’s effectively 5.66x MR on $15K spending anywhere over one year with no annual fee…a decent return for a low monthly spend requirement and no annual fee.

Certainly, the SUB is welcome. But, for ongoing spending, competitor cards are more attractive. Whether points or cash back, uncapped 2X is the going rate. And, throw in no foreign transaction fees (for a $95 annual fee, fine). Something needs to change with the BBP and BBC. (As well as EDP on the consumer side.) There is nothing motivating me to put spending on this card.

I dunno… no AF makes this attractive for the Amex ecosystem. If you have another Amex card already, BBP is a no brainer. Just don’t use it to charge overseas n

I got a mailer for 50k bonus after $5k spend in 3 months. I already have the card but will be signing up for another one!

What?! I got the 50k for $8k spend in 3 months! I’m calling foul. LOL. But I got it anyway.

Doug

Same offer here from a mailer. Have Biz Plat and might get this one too.

Stephen

I was targetted also on my online profile under Amex offers $5,000 spend for 50,000 points. I definitely accepted that offer.

Seems my Blue Bus Plus offer is 50K for $8K in 3. I have not had this particular card before.

I also received the “You’re pre-approved for Amex Bus Plus: 50k with $5k spend in 3 mos”.
I applied, and was approved.
I had this card in the past & canceled it sometime in the last year.

Evan

My wife received a BBP mailer yesterday 50K points for 5K spend

Mark

Any idea which card you’re targeted FROM? I have different logins for my different Amex cards.

Last night I was targeted to add AU’s (up to 5) and get 15k MR for $4k spend on each card for the BBP. So, that’s back too, though last time they only gave me 7k points despite the terms. I didn’t dispute it since my AU’s weren’t the most legit.

What do you mean it was not the most legit?
