Today, Amex announced new, limited-time welcome offers that let you earn between 90,000 and 125,000 SkyMiles after approval and meeting the spending requirements of a new Delta SkyMiles credit card.
Unusually, the consumer cards each offer the same potential SkyMiles as their respective business cards, but the spending requirements are split into two tiers, each requiring ~75% of the business cards’ minimum spend (normally, consumer cards have lower spend AND lower bonus miles).
Delta also announced that cardholders of all six of these cards now get a second free checked bag on domestic flights; an increasingly valuable benefit for non-elites, given the recent increase in checked bag fees. The benefit for cardholders on international itineraries remains one bag only, and it seems the second bag is limited to the primary cardholder, according to the terms found here. The first bag benefit can extend to up to 8 non-cardholding members on the same reservation.
Both the increased business and consumer card welcome offers have an expiry date of 7/15/26 and are well-suited for those chasing Delta status and/or interested in redeemable miles.

Quick Thoughts
Delta SkyMiles aren’t the most valuable rewards currency on the market, but they are typically worth at least 1 cent each toward Delta flights, which means these offers can be valued at ~$ 900-$1,250+ in air travel. While any one of these offers probably won’t get you an international business class flight, that’s no small potatoes for those who do fly Delta often. And the cards’ 15% discount on awards will make the miles go even farther.
Regardless of the miles earned, if you’re interested in elite status, both sets of Platinum and Reserve cards can be a great choice thanks to their $2,500 MQD Headstarts. See our post “Shortcuts to Delta Elite status” for complete details.
It’s worth noting a significant limitation to SkyClub access for the Delta Reserve and Delta Reserve for Business cards: cardholders are now limited to 15 Delta Sky Club® “visit-days” per year, unless they spend $75K on the card within a calendar year.
I don’t think I’d rather take one of these over a big transferable-currency offer (like as high as 300K on the American Express Business Platinum®, 150K on the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, or as high as 175K on the Amex Platinum), but I’m also not a frequent Delta flyer. If you are, these offers are very good given the required spend.
