Delta has a new Amex Offer out that gives $60 back when spending $300+ on flights with the airlline. This is an odd one though, as it’s only valid for non-stop flights that depart out of New York City airports.

Quick Thoughts

This is an odd one. While Delta Amex Offers come around regularly in various configurations, I don’t recall ever seeing one that was so specific in its redemption terms. Not only do the flights have to depart from EWR, JFK or LGA, but they have to be non-stop as well. This (obviously) limits the utility the offer for many folks and even for many NYC-area Delta customers due to the non-stop restriction.

As some folks on Reddit have suggested, it would be possible to book a flight out of one of the qualifying airports and then cancel after 24 hours in order to bank the flight credit and fulfill the offer. If you try going this route, make sure to wait for 24 hours, otherwise the purchase will be refunded to the original form of payment and it’s likely that the statement credit won’t post.

Many people are also targeted for a similar Amex Offer that awards 6,000 Membership Rewards for a $300 gift card purchase. This is obviously much easier to take advantage of.

My offer is any US airport TO any NYC airport, so clearly targeted on where they think you may live.

Obviously Reddit trying to ruin offers by gaming them.

So bummed. I actually need a ticket that would perfectly fit this criteria but am 0/8 on my cards.

As usual Delta is ahead of everyone in the game, this is brilliant as it incentivizes exactly the customer base they are looking to grow without sacrificing revenues in other markets
