Update 4/14: We previously published that the enhanced Delta offers were set to expire April 13th, but it turns out that the consumer versions of the offers are still available until June 8th via referral. We’ve updated links on this blog accordingly. While they may not be among the absolute best offers out there, they are some of the better ones in recent memory for the Delta cards…assuming you don’t need MQM’s but you do value SkyMiles.

Amex is out with increased offers debut on most of the Delta SkyMiles credit cards. These new offers are great for those who are not chasing Delta status / are more interested in redeemable miles than MQMs. This year in particular I imagine that there may be more readers interested in an offer that includes MQMs (which would mean holding off for a different offer), but for those who don’t value MQMs these offers are excellent.

Quick Thoughts

Delta SkyMiles aren’t the most valuable rewards currency on the market, but they are typically worth at least 1c each toward Delta flights, which means that these offers are worth between $700-$1000 worth of Delta flights. While one of these offers probably won’t get you luxury international business class flights, that’s no small potatoes for those who fly Delta often.

Personally, I intend to hold out on Delta offers in case I decide to chase elite status. I had completed a Delta Gold challenge last year and my MQMs from last year rolled over into this year, so I am now more than halfway to Gold and almost half way to Platinum. I would probably rather pick up an offer that includes MQMs so that I can spend toward an MQD waiver and pick up a nice haul of MQMs in the process. Gold or even Platinum status could realistically be within reach with the right offer and these current miles-only offers won’t help me reach status.

That said, in previous years I was never one to chase airline status. I’m sure there are many people who don’t care about airline elite status and for that crowd these new offers look pretty good if you want a Delta card / SkyMiles. I’m still not sure that I’d rather have one of these offers than a big transferable currency offer (like 75K on one of the fee-free Ink cards or 100K on the Venture X card or 150K on the Amex Platinum card), but these offers certainly aren’t bad compared to the required spend.
