Just a quick reminder that there’s less than a week to go until Hyatt’s 2019 category changes go into effect on March 18.

Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina
Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina – reducing from category 5 to 4, so you’ll be able to book it with a credit card free night certificate

We’d previously covered all of the upcoming changes where I also shared my view that these changes were, on balance, OK. See: Hyatt’s 2019 Category Changes Announced: Some Good, Some Bad But Mostly Fair.

On the positive side, there will be a dozen different properties that’ll be bookable with the category 1-4 free night certificate from the Hyatt credit cards as they’re reducing from category 5 to 4. On the downside, 18 fewer properties will be bookable – including the Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica and Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf San Francisco in California – as they’re increasing from category 4 to 5.

There are 259 properties in total that’ll be changing categories, so you can find the full list here. If you have your eye on one of the properties increasing in price, you’ll need to book that by March 17 to ensure you get locked in at the lower award rate.

On the other side of it, if you’ll be booking a stay at one of the many properties decreasing in price, you’ll want to hold off until Monday March 18 until they drop a category before booking.

I did my spend and had my points post on my statement close with chase on the 8th. I felt this would be plenty time to have all my points and the bonus for use by the 18th but still as of today nothing has appeared in my Hyatt account. Usually they appear in a day or two. My UR points that I transferred was instant. They seem to be dragging their feet so as to make me pay the higher category. Anyone else not getting their chase points posted?
