Amazon has a couple of new offers that give you 20% off when redeeming 1 Membership Rewards point. This is an excellent deal if you’re targeted as you can use it to buy third party gift cards. If it says you’re not eligible, it might still be possible to get yourself targeted – read on to find out how.
The Deal
- Amazon is offering targeted discounts when paying with at least 1 American Express Membership Rewards point:
- Save 20% on up to $250 of spend
- Direct link to registration for the offer (our affiliate link).
- Save $20 when spending $100+
- Direct link to registration for the offer (our affiliate link).
- Direct link to enroll in Shop With Points (our affiliate link).
- Direct link to gift cards on Amazon (our affiliate link).
- Save 20% on up to $250 of spend
Key Terms
- This is a limited offer. The promotion will end on the earlier of (a) 11:59 PT on 12/02/2019, or (b) the time at which offers worth $5,000,000 have been redeemed.
- The promotion code will expire concurrently. Amazon.com reserves the right to cancel or modify this offer at any time.
- Offer is available by invitation only, is non-transferable, is not redeemable for cash, and may not be resold.
- Offer applies only to the purchase where Membership Rewards points are used for at least a portion of the purchase and the promotion code is applied at checkout.
- Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com (Look for “sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC” on the product detail page.) Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.
- Limit one promotion code per Membership Rewards eligible card.
- Offer may not be combined with other offers.
- Shipping charges may apply to discounted promotional items.
- Offer does not apply to purchase of digital content.
- If any of the products related to your original order are returned, subject to Amazon’s refund policy, you will receive a refund of the amount charged to your card first, followed by Membership Rewards points.
- Promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.
- This promotion is available only to Amazon.com customers with an eligible Membership Rewards points card issued in United States.
- Promotional credit is applied before taxes and fees.
- If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
Quick Thoughts
This is an excellent deal if you’re targeted. I wasn’t targeted for either of these deals, but Greg was lucky enough to be targeted for both. He’s verified that he can activate both deals, but only one discount is applied at a time and the $250 offer takes precedence over the $100 offer.
One of the nice things about these offers is that you can buy third party gift cards (but not Amazon gift cards) provided they’re sold and shipped by Amazon and includes eGift cards. For example, adding a $250 gift card to your cart and applying 1 Membership Rewards point provides the $50 discount and leaves you with $199.99 to pay.
How To Get Targeted
If you weren’t targeted, it might be possible to get the activation link displayed. Check out this post to see what’s worked for me a few times in the past. Follow those steps and then check every day to see if you can activate the offer(s).
Note that the activation link in that post is for a past offer, so when you get to step 4 you’ll want to use this link instead (our affiliate link).
[…] not as great as the Amazon/Membership Rewards offers that give 20% off on up to $250, saving 20-40% on $50 is still a nice deal, especially seeing as it works on third party gift […]
Quick awesome stacking deal.
Buy $100 of Amazon credit from OM/OD with Ink and get 5x points.
$20 on $100 with 1 AmEx MR.
$10 in Amazon credit when buying $100 Netflix (promo code NETFLIX)
So after $80 spend, you get $100 Netflix card, $10 Amazon promo credit and 500 Chase UR.
Received a $30 off promotion for 1 point. The item I had in my cart was $80. Not sure what the minimum was, but I pulled the trigger so fast after seeing it was a flat $30
Not targeted. Trick didn’t work this time, either.
It takes several days for it to work, so keep rechecking ever day and you’ll hopefully be able to activate it by the end of the week.
I followed your $250 link above and my offer wasn’t for 20%, it was for a fixed $20 off a $100+ purchase. But $20 is better than nothing!
Yep, there are two versions of the offer – one for $250 and one for $100. Some are targeted for both, but at least you got one of them like you said 🙂
Yes, but the two versions you listed are for a 20% discount. My discount is for $20. Example: If I make a $120 purchase, I will get a $20 discount….not a $24 discount (20% of $120).
Ah, you’re right – I’d misread the offer terms. Thanks for clarifying that – I’ll update the post.
also note that both links led me to the same $20 page. They didn’t lead one to the $100 offer and the other to the $250 offer
I think the link for those two offers is the same – if you only see one of them then it means you were only targeted for that one.
I doubt it since it doesn’t validate until the button is clicked. Strange either way, thanks for posting this. Even though it’s not 20% off $250 I’ll still take $20 off $100!
Robert – When I clicked on the link I luckily had both offers waiting for me – one on top of the other. Thanks for the tip, Stephen!
