Both of the Avianca LifeMiles credit cards are now offering additional bonus miles for qualifying purchases in the first 3 months. These new offers require promo code SB4060 during the application process. I’ve become a huge fan of LifeMiles in the past year or two. While LifeMiles is an Amex transfer partner, Capital One transfer partner, and Citi transfer partner, these offers could be a good way to pick up additional LifeMiles without much effort.

Quick Thoughts
Again, I am a confirmed LifeMiles fan for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the intrigue of the hidden sweet spots. LifeMiles also happen to be convenient for me since I have family that lives at the far end of my zone within the US, which means that flights are just 7500 miles each way when United has availability. Of course, the intrigue of that was put on pause when I discovered that Turkish offers that same price to any part of the United states, but picking up easy LifeMiles would make it easier for me to hang on to my Turkish miles for trips to Hawaii and business class transcons (if I can find them).
While LifeMiles is transfer partners with a few major currencies, and there are often transfer bonuses, I sometimes have trouble mentally justifying a transfer because LifeMiles can often be purchased cheaply. Earlier today, we reported on the latest sale, in which you could buy LifeMiles for as little as 1.35c each. I struggle a bit with the idea of transferring my Membership Rewards or ThankYou points for a currency I can buy for so little. Again, that’s where the credit card bonuses come in handy: this type of offer could prevent me from using a transferable currency, thereby saving those points for more valuable spots.
Of course, all that said, neither card is terribly intriguing long-term. Even in the bonus categories on the Vuela card, you could earn more miles with a transferable currency and a category bonus. Furthermore, I wouldn’t recommend one of these cards if you are under 5/24 or value getting there one of these cards would add to your count. On the other hand, if you’re accepting the fact that you’re never going to drop that low, this is an easy 40K or 60K miles with a very small spend requirement. One gift card at Simon Mall this week would knock this one out.
Overall, I’m glad to see more miles on these cards, but they remain a niche product for sure.

Lifemiles was supposed to adjust US redemption rate a dew days ago. Not sure the 7500 rate still holds across flights.
It did on flights I was searching this morning.
Just curious why the Ebates/Rakuten offer of 80x on Lifelock membership isnt getting any love? If your Ebates account to accept Amex points, you’re getting a better a rate than this Lifelines deal.
And with frequent Amex transfer bonuses to Lifemiles and other airlines, you can parlay it into an even better deal.
Good point regarding the sale to purchase LifeMiles vs buying Membership Rewards points for 1.2c each.
Avianca is the second Latin American group behind Latam..,
Guess who is control of it now?
United Airlines after a hostile takeover at the end of May 2019
They may end up joining United/Copa group to form the biggest aviation block of the Americas. (United owns them)
Is this card churnable? I just canceled the card when the annual fee came due last week
I’ve anecdotally heard that it isn’t, but I’m not positive.
They will deny you if you hve had the card in the last 24 months. They just told me today that I was denied because I cancelled the same card less than 24 months ago.
So far no hard inquiry, so maybe no harm done.
Some mixed DPs regarding churnablility. I am waiting for more solid DPs before applying again. It has been more than 24 months since I last had this card.
