Hyatt is launching a new promotion which is once again called Bonus Journeys. While it’s not as generous as the Bonus Journeys promo that kicked off 2021 with the ability to quickly and easily earn Globalist status, the bonus points you can earn are still nice – especially seeing as it’s valid on both paid and award stays.
There’s also an additional promotion for Hyatt cardholders that’ll earn you even more bonus points when staying at eligible properties in 10 US cities.
The Deal
- Earn 2,022 bonus points for every two nights you stay at Hyatt during the promotion period.
- Hyatt cardholders earn 1,000 bonus points per stay at 180+ properties in the following cities:
- Boston
- Chicago
- Dallas
- Denver
- Los Angeles
- Nashville
- New York City
- San Francisco
- Seattle
- Washington D.C.

Quick Thoughts
As mentioned at the start of the post, this promotion isn’t as rewarding as the Bonus Journeys promotion that started in 2020 and ran through the first couple of months of 2021, thereby kicking off the year with the ability to earn Globalist status easily due to the double elite nights on offer on top of the 3x/4x point earning ability.
This new Bonus Journeys promotion doesn’t offer double elite nights or an enhanced earning ratio on paid stays, but it’s still a fairly good offer seeing as you’ll earn 2,022 bonus points for every two nights you stay. That doesn’t have to be consecutive nights and it’s not based on a per-stay basis either, so you could book a three night stay and a one night stay to wind up with 4,044 bonus points as an example. You can earn up to 20,220 bonus points during the promo period which means you’ll max out this part of the promotion when staying a total of 20 nights.
If you’re a Hyatt cardholder and you stay at one of the eligible properties in the ten cities listed above, you’ll also earn 1,000 bonus points per stay. If you’re booking one night stays at those properties, you’ll be earning a total of 4,022 bonus points for every two nights when taking into account the bonus points from both promotions. With a limit of 10,000 bonus points on offer, you’ll max that out after ten stays at eligible properties.
One of the best features of this promotion is that award nights are eligible too. If you happen to be staying at category 1 properties that cost 5,000 points per night, you’ll be getting back 2,022 points for every 10,000 you redeem – a 20.22% rebate on your redemption. The bonus point ratio isn’t as good on higher category stays, but most hotel promotions don’t offer you anything at all for award nights, so I’ll gratefully accept any points they want to throw my way when redeeming points.
I signed up for the bonus and forgot about it, stayed an award night and was surprised to find I had earned 1000 points. Better than a hole in the head, as they say!
Not super exciting, but between March 1 and April 20 you can hunt down those 3500 off peak properties and earn elite nights for about ~2500 average per night. Luckily I can actually make use of some of these nights as well, even if I have to drive a bit further.
Edit: And if you find some in a qualifying cities even better but harder to find.
[…] if you don’t think you will have any stays because you never know what might come up. See this post on Miles to Memories for more […]
I don’t see anything to the contrary, but would you expect a stay in late January booked prior to registering for the promotion to count? Or would I have to cancel and rebook?
With past Hyatt promotions, any stays booked before a promotion started that subsequently fall within a promotion period have always been eligible for bonus points provided you register for the promo before the stay itself.
I booked 10, 1-nt stays (1 day in between) from 1.14.22 thru 1.31.22 at a Cat 1. That earns me: 10,110 Hyatt points under Part I Bonus Journeys; 10,000 Hyatt points under Part II Bonus Journeys; 10,000 AA miles. I’ll get most of the value of my 5k/nt points returned + 10 cheap elite nights.
Does this apply to old Hyatt CC holders or only the new CC?
I think all legacy Hyatt cardholders have already been converted to the new World of Hyatt card.
Just consulted my spreadsheet and I canceled both our cards before converting to get the bonus on the new cards, but the Covid put an end to that. Thanks.
Sorry Hyatt, but a bonus for those of us paying for the credit card, but the bonus only works in a handful of select cities, is absolute crap.
Compared to the current promo this is a snooze. Simply not enough of a bonus to get me to switch stays.
As a new WoH card owner I’m furious too.
Previous bumped points rebate is way more useful, especially when people finally travel internationally.
It would be even if they allowed 1000 bonus points for the personal and business card
Some of the 1,000 points/stay cities are the same cities for the targeted 1k AA points/stay promo that could stack from 1.15.22 – 1.31.22 (when the AA promo ends).
Will this promo stack with Hyatt: Earn 5k Points Every 2 Nights, 12k Points Every 5 Or 30k Points Every 10
No, that promo ends the day before this one begins
