Chase Ink Business Cash Review
The Ink Business Cash is one of the Frequent Miler team’s favorite cards. There’s no annual fee and a couple of decent 2x categories, but the real winner is the $25k per year in 5x earning on cell phone service, cable, office supply stores, select streaming services, and internet. Although it’s advertised as a cash back card, it actually earns valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards points that can be transferred to a variety of partners when paired with any premium Ultimate Rewards-earning card. It provides car rental insurance, purchase protection and often has one of the best welcome offers in the Chase ecosystem. In our opinion, this card is a must-have.
- Annual Fee: None
- Authorized User Annual Fee: Free
- Foreign Transaction Fee: 3%
- What points are worth: The Ink Business Cash card is advertised as a cashback card, but it actually earns Chase Ultimate Rewards. Our current Reasonable Redemption Values pegs their value at 1.5 cents each. Note that this assumes that the cardholder also has a premium card that unlocks the ability to transfer to partners (either the Ink Business Preferred, Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve). Without one of those cards, points are only worth 1 cent each towards cashback. Cash back can be taken as a statement credit or via check or ACH transfer.
- Best Use for Points: When combined with a premium card, Chase Ultimate Rewards can be transferred to travel partners at a 1:1 ratio and this will usually yield the most value. Our favorite hotel transfer partner is undoubtedly Hyatt, where redemptions can often exceed 2-3 cents per point. Airline partners are good, if not great, and include Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France/KLM Flying Blue and British Airways Avios, as well as domestic programs like United Mileage Plus, Southwest Rapid Rewards and JetBlue. Ink Cash cardholders who also have an Ink Business Preferred or Sapphire Preferred can combine points and redeem them for travel through the Chase Portal at 1.25 cents each. Sapphire Reserve cardholders can redeem them at 1.5 cents each.
- Earning Categories:
- 5X at cell phone, cable, office supply stores, select streaming services, and internet on up to $25,000 in total purchases per account anniversary year
- 5x on Lyft rides through March 2025
- 2x at gas stations and restaurants
- 1x everywhere else
- Travel Protections:
- Auto Rental Coverage: Primary auto rental CDW (collision damage waiver) when renting for business purposes. Provides reimbursement for theft and collision damage for rental cars in the U.S. and abroad.
- Travel Accident Insurance: Kicks in with delays of longer than 6 hours, good for up to $100 a day for 3 days.
- Baggage Delay Insurance: Accidental death or dismemberment coverage of up to $500,000.
- Purchase Protections:
- Extended Warranty: One additional year, on eligible warranties of three years or less (US warranties only).
- Damage and Theft Protection: Covers new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft up to $10,000 per claim/$50,000 per account.
- Who’s this card for? Anyone that’s comfortable getting a business card.
- Is the Ink Business Cash a keeper? Absolutely, with no annual fee and terrific 5x categories, there’s no reason to not have one (or more) in your wallet.
Chase Ink Business Cash Pros and Cons
Pros
- Awesome 5x categories
- No annual fee
- Often has the best welcome offer of the Ultimate Rewards-earning cards
- Good transfer partners, especially for folks looking for domestic airline and hotel programs
- Miles can be shared across cards and cardholders
- Unusually for a fee-free card, provides primary rental car insurance, travel and purchase protections
- Can have more than one for the same business
Cons
- 3% foreign transaction fee
- Must be paired with a “premium” card to transfer to partners
- Not the most exciting group of airline partners

Aer Lingus Avios | 1 to 1 | Fuel surcharges are sometimes lower when booking with Aer Lingus rather than British Airways, Qatar, or Iberia. It's possible to move points (Avios) between Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Qatar. See also: Avios Sweet Spots for Award Tickets. |
Air Canada Aeroplan | 1 to 1 | Redeem for Star Alliance flights and/or flights with Air Canada partners (such as Etihad). No fuel surcharges; $39 CAD award booking fee; 5,000 points to add stopover on one-way award. See: Air Canada Aeroplan: Everything you need to know. |
Air France KLM Flying Blue | 1 to 1 | Monthly Air France Promo Awards often represent very good value. Air France miles can be used to book Sky Team awards, including Delta awards. Air France often offers very good business class award pricing between the US and Europe & Israel. |
British Airways Avios | 1 to 1 | While flights on British Airways itself often incur outrageously high fuel surcharges, many BA partners charge low or no fuel surcharges. Excellent value can often be had in redeeming BA points for short distance flights outside the US. It's possible to move points (Avios) between Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Qatar. See also: Avios Sweet Spots for Award Tickets. |
Emirates Skywards | 1 to 1 | The best use of Emirates miles has been to fly Emirates itself. Unfortunately fuel surcharges can be extremely steep. One workaround is to book select routes such as JFK to Milan or Newark to Athens. See: How to find and book Emirates first class awards. |
Finnair Plus+ | 1 to 1 via BA | Finnair points are now "Avios" and points can be moved to/from other Avios programs. Finnair uses zone based award charts rather than distance based. As a result, Finnair sometimes has better (and sometimes worse) pricing than other Avios programs. |
Hyatt | 1 to 1 | Use for Hyatt free nights, free suite nights, lounge upgrades, or suite upgrades. Hyatt points are often worth more than 2 cents each. Bonus: award nights are not subject to resort fees. |
Iberia Avios | 1 to 1 | On their own flights, Iberia offers low award prices and a very reasonable 25 Euro cancellation fee. Partner awards can offer good value under some circumstances as well, but these are usually nonrefundable. Fuel surcharges are sometimes lower when booking with Iberia rather than British Airways, Aer Lingus, or Qatar. It's possible to move points (Avios) between Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Qatar. See also: Avios Sweet Spots for Award Tickets. |
IHG | 1 to 1 | IHG dynamically prices their awards and sometimes offer very good value. IHG Premier and IHG Premier Business cards offer the fourth night free on award stays. |
JetBlue | 1 to 1 | JetBlue points offer the most value when cheap ticket prices are available and when award taxes are high relative to the overall cost of the ticket (more details can be found here). The JetBlue Plus Card and the JetBlue Business Card offer a 10% rebate on awards, so you can get more value by holding one of these cards. |
Marriott Bonvoy | 1 to 1 | 5th Night Free awards. Opportunities to get outsized value exist but can be hard to find. |
Qatar Privilege Club Avios | 1 to 1 via BA | Qatar has reasonable award prices for flying Qatar itself. Points are now transferable 1 to 1 to British Airways (and from there to Aer Lingus or Iberia). It is now also possible to book JetBlue flights with Qatar Avios. |
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer | 1 to 1 | Use to book Singapore Airlines First Class awards (generally reserved for their own members), Alaska Airlines economy awards, or for Star Alliance awards (including United Airlines). |
Southwest Rapid Rewards | 1 to 1 | Award flights are fully refundable. Point values vary due to certain taxes not being charged on awards, but tend to average around 1.5 cents per point. |
United MileagePlus | 1 to 1 | United offers free award changes and free cancelations. Like Avianca and Aeroplan, United never charges fuel surcharges for awards. Unfortunately, United charges many more miles for international first class awards. Good uses of miles include United's Excursionist Perk awards and (sometimes) dynamically priced United economy awards. |
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club | 1 to 1 | Virgin Atlantic offers a few excellent sweet spot awards. See: Best uses for Virgin Atlantic points (Sweet Spot Spotlight). |

Does Chase do a hard pull for the Ink Business Cards?
Almost always. But it doesn’t count towards your 5/24 status.
I applied to, and got approved for the CIC yesterday and Chase pulled my credit on Transunion. Would you please elaborate on how it doesn’t count toward 5/24, please?
When looking at my credit report, how would I know which pulls count and which ones don’t? Thanks!
Hard pulls are essentially a credit check. You can get a hard pull and still get declined for the account, so it’s not an indication of how much or what types of credit you actually have. For 5/24, Chase only looks at new credit card accounts. Most business credit cards (including Chase’s) don’t appear on your personal credit report. So, you can see that Chase did a credit check for some reason (a hard pull), but you can’t see the new account that’s associated with it. Thus, your 5/24 status is unchanged.
I know the 90k offers are going away..
But I just had a friend refer me for 100k points and they still get their 40k points for referring. Not sure if this referral promo is common.
Thanks! Yep, all referral links should be 40K. Just out of curiosity, the 100K offer was for a Business Preferred or a Business Premier, correct? Not the Cash?
Hey guys,
The article says you can have more than one per business? I have an old Ink Plus can I get the bonus on the Ink Cash as well?
Yes, you can.
How do you sign-up for more than one? Is there a data point/web article on that one?
You simply apply for it. Yes, there are hundreds (probably thousands) of data points. I have 3 and my wife has 2. You can either use the same business information that you used previously or use a different EIN. Doesn’t mean you will get approved, of course. But having more than one won’t be an issue. Here’s a post Greg wrote about doing multiple household referrals when everyone was over 5/24. Here’s a general post about how to apply for Ink cards.

[…] Chase Ink Business Cash Credit Card Review […]
The Chase Ink Business Cash is a powerful card, combined with a Chase premium card. 5X in Office Stores (for Gift Card Purchases like Amazon, Visa Gift Cards, Home Depot Uber ect..) is great. Plus internet and telephone services at 5X is a keeper card.
Also I can stack 5X with my Netflix & Spotify Subscription, both code as internet for Chase. So easy 5X
“5X at …select streaming services”
Where can one find documentation for this? Is this a typo?
Not sure you will find documentation, but I read about it, tried it, and I can tell you that it works for Netflix. Haven’t tried it for anything else.
Cool. I’ll give it a shot with (HBO) Max.
It works for me for Spotify and Netflix. Both code as internet
As other folks have said, there are many streaming services that either code as cable or internet for 5x and so fall into the same bucket. Positive DP’s that I’ve seen:
FuBo
Netflix
HBO Max
Hulu
Sirius
Sling TV
Spotify
TiVo
Vudu
Old business cash card was better and is grandfathered. Can I apply for this one if I have the old one too?
Yes, you can.
One Datapoint. Applied for the Ink Cash and was instantly rejected at 6/24 (FICO of ~830). I had hoped I’d have a chance after all the recent 5+/24 approval datapoints but wasnt to be.
Have had 4 biz cards but never through Chase. Guess I’ll wait for official reason before trying reconsideration.
I’ve had the same issue whenever I’ve applied at 5/24+. There’s so many positive DP’s out there (including Greg’s entire family) and I get my hopes up every 3 months or so…
My referral bonus shows $900 and 40K UR for me. That means P1 and P2 mode can score more.
You get 900 for referring?
no. 40K UR for me.
