Plastiq accepting Capital One business card payments again

5

A couple of months ago, Plastiq stopped taking Capital One credit cards for payments. However, in a positive change, Plastiq now once again accepts Capital One business credit cards. This is particularly good news for those facing the $50,000 spending requirement for some of their increased business credit card welcome offers.

The Deal

  • Plastiq once again accepts Capital One business credit cards for Plastiq bill payments

Quick Thoughts

Again, this was historically no problem but it was something that unexpectedly changed a few months back. It is good to see the pendulum swing back in the other direction on this.

Unfortunately, you still won’t be able to use Capital One personal cards. Furthermore, you will still be unable to use Capital One business cards for the following types of payments:

  • Mortgage
  • Home Equity Line of Credit
  • Auto Loans
  • Student Loans

However, that still leaves things like rent, taxes, and many other types of payments.

does anyone know if capital one would allow a payment towards a bridge loan for solar? I know it says no mortgage or auto loans but i wonder if this would go through.

Larry

I have trouble finding ways to use plastiq for anything but using a non-cap one mastercard for mortgage, unless there is a free dollars promo. Taxes can be paid at less than 2.5 percent using other services, as can most other things I would use a credit card for. For tuition our school also charges 2.5 percent but it’s direct, I get an instant 529 receipt, and there is no fuss with waiting for a check.

I am always working on spend on cards and don’t really MS and so plastiq seems great in theory but without supporting mortgage payments, I find I have trouble using it at 2.5 percent. Rent seems like a big one, but we don’t pay rent.

Hi, do you know if I can use it to pay a university directly for tuition?

paul

THANKS for the quick reply.
