Amex Offer Cheat Sheet

114

Often, there are many great Amex Offers available to cardholders.  Some are available to all cardholders. Some are for those with specific cards.  Many are targeted to specific people.  The goal of this post is to identify the best current offers and identify the non-obvious ways to get value from them.  For example, dining gift cards purchased through Fluz count towards dining offers.  And, hotel gift cards purchased at the front-desk generally count towards hotel offers.  Details like these are shown below within each appropriate section.

We intend to update this post often.  Reader suggestions are appreciated!

About buying gift cards…

Many Amex Offers have exclusions against buying gift cards.  Often, though, there are nuances to this that are unclear from the terms.  For example, with bestbuy.com offers, Best Buy e-gift cards truly are excluded: you won’t trigger the offer when buying them.  That said, physical Best Buy gift cards will work.  Plus, bestbuy.com sells 3rd party gift cards and those purchases will also trigger the offer.  That’s the type of “cheat sheet” info that this post is intended to convey…

Stacked Offers

Sometimes multiple offers can apply to the same purchase.  When this happens, you can get two rebates with a single purchase!  For example:

Dell $200 + 10% Back

Add the Dell 10% back offer to your Business Platinum account so that you can get both the Dell $200 rebate every 6 months, plus 10% off.  It’s a good idea to make sure that you do not get more money back then you spent since Amex has been known to claw back over-payments.  For example, if you spend only $200, then you’ll get back $220 total and Amex will likely claw back the extra $20.  Instead, ideally you would spend $223 or more at Dell so that you’ll get back slightly less than you spent.

Current Offers

Dell: 10% back (Thru 8/1/22)

Applies To: Targeted Business Cards

Valid through: 8/1/22

Offer: Get 10% back on purchases, up to $1,500.  Get 10% back as a statement credit by using your enrolled Business Card on eligible purchases online at Dell.com/amex or by calling 855-315-5552 by 8/1/2022. Limit of $1,500 in total statement credits.

Cheat Sheet:

  • Even though some Dell offers suggest shopping at “www.dell.com/amex,” that is not necessary in practice.  Instead, always start your shopping with the best current shopping portal for Dell.  See the best portal options here.
  • Dell allows splitting purchases across three credit cards. If you have multiple cards with Dell offers, you can use more than one in a single purchase.
  • While you can’t use this offer to buy Dell gift cards, Xbox gift cards purchased through Dell count as regular purchases and will trigger the offers.
    • Now that Xbox gift cards can be used to buy hardware from the Microsoft store,  there’s more potential value in those gift cards than ever before.
    • Use code GAME10 when checking out to save 10% on Xbox gift cards!  You can only get 10% off of one card at a time, but you can place multiple orders and get 10% off of each.
    • Dell will often cancel orders for $100 gift cards.  Lower denomination gift cards are more likely to process successfully.

Dell: Spend $599, Get $120 (Thru 4/2/22)

Applies to: Targeted Consumer Amex Cards

Valid through: 4/2/22

Offer: Get a one-time $120 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $599 in one or more transactions online at Dell.com by 4/2/2022.

Fine Hotels & Resorts: $200 Annual Rebate

Applies to: Consumer Platinum Cards

Valid through: Ongoing Perk.  Enrollment is not required.

Offer: Get $200 back in statement credits each year on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® or The Hotel Collection bookings with American Express Travel when you pay with your Platinum Card.

Benefits:

  • Fine Hotels & Resorts stays include daily breakfast for 2; $100 experience credit (details vary by hotel); guaranteed 4pm late check-out; 12pm check-in when available; room upgrade when available; and free wi-fi.
  • The Hotel Collection stays include a $100 experience credit (details vary by hotel); and a room upgrade when available.

Find qualifying hotels here: www.americanexpress.com/en-us/travel/discover/destinations

Cheat Sheet:

  • Pay now, stay later.  Prepaid hotels booked through Fine Hotels & Resorts or through The Hotel Collection are usually fully refundable.  If you get to the end of the year and haven’t used your credit yet, you can still book a hotel for next year in order to earn the credit now.  And if your plans change, you can cancel the stay to get your money back.  If that happens, expect Amex to take back the $200.  Make sure to note the cancellation rules when booking a hotel because different hotels have different rules as to how far in advance you must cancel in order to get a full refund.
  • Earn hotel points & elite perks.  When booking a chain hotel through a 3rd party online, you usually won’t earn hotel points or elite status credits.  With Fine Hotels & Resorts and The Hotel Collection, though, you do.  Make sure to include your hotel loyalty rewards number when checking out.
  • Search for bargains.  If your dates are flexible, there are ways to find dates in which qualifying hotels cost less than usual.  If you can find a stay that costs only $200, you can get the full stay rebated plus get all of the perks that come with these reservations!  See this post for details: Searching for deals through Fine Hotels & Resorts.
  • Hotel Collection 2-Day Minimum.  While its fine to book a Fine Hotels & Resorts stay for just one night, The Hotel Collection requires at least 2 nights.  See this post for details: The Hotel Collection Mini Guide: Prepaid rates earn hotel points/perks, and more surprising finds.

Marriott: Spend $250 or more, get $50 back (Thru 3/31/22)

Applies to: Any (Targeted)

Valid through: 3/31/22

Offer: Get a one-time $50 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $250 USD on room rate and room charges, when you pay for your stay at participating properties across the Marriott Bonvoy® portfolio’s 30 hotel brands from 1/10/22 to 3/31/22.

More Info: $50 back on $250 at Marriott with Amex Offer [more cards targeted; enrollment required]

Cheat Sheet:

  • While the terms specifically exclude gift card purchases, past offers have worked on gift cards purchased at a hotel front desk. We suspect that will likely still work here. Be aware that the difficulty is in finding a front desk that stocks the cards and an employee who knows how to sell them, but if you find that combination it will likely trigger the offer.  We recommend calling local Marriott hotels to ask if they sell gift cards before showing up in person to try to buy them.
  • If you already have a physical Marriott gift card, it should be possible to reload that gift card whenever there’s one of these Amex Offers rather than having to rely on the property having a gift card.

Delta: Spend $250, get $75 back (there are other versions of this offer) (Thru 5/31/22)

Applies to: Any (Targeted)

Valid through: 5/31/22

Offer: Get a one-time $75 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $250 in one or more transactions direct with Delta Air Lines by 5/31/22. Flight must originate in the U.S. & purchase must be in USD.

More Info: Amex Offer: $75 off $250 spend with Delta Air Lines

Cheat Sheet:

  • While the terms state that this has to be used to book a flight that originates in the US, it’s possible to buy a Delta gift card to trigger the statement credit. This has to be done on a desktop computer (purchases on mobile code differently) using this link. Delta sells gift cards via a number of landing pages, but those other ones have payment processed by CashStar and so it doesn’t code as a Delta purchase.

  • Multiple readers have found that payments to Google Fi do not trigger the credit.

Expired Offers

More Info: $50 back on $200 with new Marriott Amex Offer [targeted; enrollment required]

Find qualifying hotels here: www.americanexpress.com/en-us/travel/discover/destinations

Cheat Sheet:

  • Pay now, stay later.  Prepaid hotels booked through Fine Hotels & Resorts or through The Hotel Collection are usually fully refundable.  So, if you don’t have a stay planned for before this offer expires, that’s OK.  You just need to book the stay before then.  And if your plans change, you can cancel the stay to get your money back.  If that happens, expect Amex to take back the $150.

Hyatt: 10% Back, Up to $75 (Thru 12/31/21)

Applies to: Targeted cards

Valid through: December 31, 2021

Cheat Sheet:

  • While the terms specifically exclude gift card purchases, buying a gift card at a Hyatt hotel’s front desk will work to trigger the offer.  Be aware that the difficulty is in finding a front desk that stocks the cards and an employee who knows how to sell them.

U.S. Restaurants: Monthly rebate (Thru 12/31/21)

Applies to: Most consumer Amex Delta, Hilton, and Marriott cards

Valid through: 2021

Offer: Spend $5 (or $10, $15, or $20) or more at U.S. restaurants, earn $5 (or $10, $15, or $20) back once a month, through 2021. From the time you enroll through 12/31/21, earn a $5 (or $10, $15, or $20) statement credit after spending $5 (or $10, $15, or $20) or more each month in purchases at U.S. restaurants (including take-out and delivery) on your Card. Earn up to a total of $55 (or $110, $165, or $220) in statement credits.

More Info:

Cheat Sheet:

  • Reload your credit balance with any of these U.S. restaurants through their apps: Chick-fil-A, Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks.
  • Buy a gift card in-store from any restaurant you frequent.
  • Buy a gift card from the DoorDash app (caution: we haven’t yet verified that this works)
  • The Fluz app offers a large selection of restaurant gift cards that code as restaurants when you buy them.  In other words, buying these gift cards should trigger the Amex Offer.  Gift cards bought through Fluz that qualify as dining purchases include Amazon Meal Kits, DoorDash, Groupon, GrubHub, Starbucks, Walmart Cafeteria, and many more.  You can find a full list of qualifying Fluz gift cards at GC Galore.  If you’re new to Fluz, below are our referral links. You’ll received 3 vouchers when joining, while we’ll earn 1 voucher after you make your first purchase. Each voucher offers 35% back (up to $3.50) on select gift cards:

Applies to: Business cards that earn Membership Rewards points

Valid through: July 15, 2021

Offer:  Spend $500 or more, get 1,000 Membership Rewards® points. Up to 3 times. Get 1,000 additional Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled Business Card to spend a minimum of $500 in one or more eligible transactions online at Amazon.com by 7/15/2021. Limit of 3,000 total Membership Rewards points.

Cheat Sheet:

  • Reload your Amazon gift card balance $500 at a time to trigger this offer.
  • Load the offer to a card that has other spending offers in order to double-dip.  A great example is the Blue Business Plus Spend $500+ Get $25 offer.

Best Buy: Spend $100+ Get $10. (Thru 9/15/21)

Applies to: Targeted Amex cards

Valid through: September 15, 2021

Offer:  Get $10 when you spend $100 or more in one or more transactions at Best Buy or online at bestbuy.com.

More Info: Best Buy: $10 back on $100 with targeted Amex Offer (enrollment required)

Cheat Sheet:

  • This is valid for in-store or online purchases.
  • Do NOT buy Best Buy’s own e-gift cards since they will not trigger the offer.  Best Buy’s e-gift cards are processed by CashStar, not by Best Buy.  Physical Best Buy gift cards should be fine to purchase and will trigger the Best Buy offer.
  • BestBuy.com sells 3rd party gift cards online (Apple, Delta, Hotels.com, Starbucks, etc.).  Found here.  These will trigger the Best Buy offer.
  • Best Buy physical stores often sell a better variety of 3rd party gift cards than those found online.
  • Best Buy sometimes offers sales on 3rd party gift cards bought online or in-store.  These will trigger the Best Buy offer.

Dell: Spend $599, Get $120 (Thru 7/31/21)

Applies to: Targeted Consumer Amex Cards

Valid through: 7/31/21

Offer: Get a one-time $120 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $599 in one or more transactions online at Dell.com by 7/31/2021.

    • Use code XBOX10 when checking out to save 10% on Xbox gift cards!  You can only get 10% off of one card at a time, but you can place multiple orders and get 10% off of each.
    • Dell will often cancel orders for $100 gift cards.  Lower denomination gift cards are more likely to process successfully.

Delta: Spend $200 & Get $40 Back (Thru 6/30/21)

Applies to: Consumer & business cards (highly targeted)

Valid through: June 30, 2021

Offer: Spend $200+ in one or more transactions with Delta Air Lines & get $40 back. Offer valid for purchases made directly with Delta Air Lines through U.S. delta.com, via Fly Delta U.S. app, and U.S. reservation telephone line. Expires March 31, 2021.

More Info: Delta Amex Offer: Spend $200 & Get $40 Back (Targeted, Ends 3/31/21)

Cheat Sheet:

  • Book a Delta award flight originating in North America but with very high ($200+) award fees plus taxes. FYI: Delta no longer charges to change or cancel awards for flights originating in North America.  When you cancel these awards, Delta will refund your fees and redeposit miles.  Note: If you do cancel for a full refund, there is a risk of Amex clawing back your $40 from this offer.  In other words, if you decide not to use the award flight, you may be better off changing it to a later date and/or destination.
  • Buy a Delta gift card from Delta.  Be careful with this since it doesn’t work in all situations: First, you have to buy them directly from Delta rather than the CashStar site which also sells them – this is the page you need to buy them from.  Second, you need to buy them on desktop rather than a mobile device because for some reason gift card purchases on your phone code differently than purchases made on your computer.

Applies to: Consumer Platinum cards active by November 1 2020 or before

Valid through: June 30, 2021

Excludes “Scheduled Delivery” shipping and in-store pickup. Limit of 2 statement credits (total of $100).

More Info: Great Amex Offers for Personal Platinum Cardholders

Cheat Sheet:

  • This is valid only for online purchases.
  • Scheduled Delivery purchases will not trigger the offer (see Ben’s comment)
  • Spend $100 or more in a single transaction to earn both $50 credits at once.

More Info: 10% back at Lowe’s with new Amex Offer

Cheat Sheet:

  • Lowes stores sell many different kinds of 3rd party gift cards
  • Combine with the Spend $500+, Get $25 offer to get a total of $75 back on a single Lowes $500 purchase.
  • Link your Amex card to JetBlue’s in-store card-linked program to earn 3x JetBlue points.

PayPal $30/Month (Thru 6/30/21)

Applies to: All consumer Platinum cardholders

Valid: Monthly through June 30, 2021

Offer: Get up to $30 per month as an automatic rebate on charges made through Paypal with your consumer Platinum card.  Person to Person payments are not eligible for statement credits.  This one isn’t really an Amex Offer, but it’s similar enough to one to be worth covering here.

More Info: How to max out your monthly $30 in free PayPal spend

Cheat Sheet:  PayPal is so commonly accepted for online purchases that I don’t really think a cheat sheet is needed here, but nevertheless:

  • Use PayPal to reload your favorite merchant accounts or buy gift cards from them: Starbucks, Target, Walmart, etc.
  • Buy gift cards with a service like Fluz.  Details here.  Unfortunately, Fluz doesn’t allow Paypal payments for all of their gift cards, so you may have to hunt around to find the best options.  If you’re new to Fluz, below are our referral links. You’ll received 3 vouchers when joining, while we’ll earn 1 voucher after you make your first purchase. Each voucher offers 35% back (up to $3.50) on select gift cards:
  • Give to your favorite charity with no credit card fees.  Details here.
  • Add $30 each month to your Kiva balance.  At any point, then, you can loan out that money to those seeking funds through Kiva.  Kiva microloans don’t pay interest, but if you’re lucky you’ll get almost all of your spend back eventually.  Details here.

Spend $500+ Get $25 (Thru 6/30/21)

Applies to: Most Blue Business Plus cards and some other business cards

Valid through: June 30, 2021

Offer: Spend $500 or more, get $25 back. Up to 10 times (total of $250).  Get a $25 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $500+ in a single eligible transaction. Must spend by 6/30/2021. Limit of 10 statement credits (total of $250).

More Info: Amex Offer: Spend $500, Get $25 (10 times)

Cheat Sheet:

  • Sometimes billers will accept credit cards but only with a fee.  In some cases, it can be worth paying that fee to make use of this offer.  For example, let’s say you have to make a large payment but will be charged 3% in fees to pay by credit card.  If you break up the payments into multiple $500 charges, you’ll get back 5% each time ($25 back from $500 spend), and so you’ll clear 2% back.  The same idea goes for Plastiq bill payments which incur a 2.85% fee.
  • Tax payments can be made with approximately a 2% fee.  Again, if you pay in $500 increments, you’ll get back 5% and therefore gain a net 3% back.  Important: tax payment fees are charged separately and so you can’t add up the tax payment and the fee to get over $500 since this offer is triggered only when individual charges are $500 or more.  See also: Pay taxes via credit card.
  • Make $500 worth of Kiva loans at a time and get back 5% (or add $500 at a time to your Kiva balance).  Kiva microloans don’t pay interest, but if you’re lucky you’ll get almost all of your spend back eventually.  Details here.

Do purchases with an employee card on a business account trigger offers that are saved in the primary account?

john h

when I call AMEX to get the Lowes Offer, the best buy offer or the Home Depot Offer, they ask for the OFFER ID.

To be helpful and save everone a lot of Time. Please provide the OFFER ID

john

Life is too short to care about expired offers. It is very lazy to keep the old garbage posted on the account. Please removed the old offers so we save time and only look at what is active now.

Gubmintmole

Bought $200 gift Card at Marriott Courtyard front desk with my Amex Platinum a couple weeks after loading the offer onto my card. As of 4 days later, the offer still shows on my card, so I would have to say buying physical gift cards at the front desk of a Marriott does not trigger the offer

Gubmintmole

You were correct. It just showed up. Took 5 days to show up. Finding a Marriott that sells the GCs is the trick. Front desk clerk said they only get a few at a time.

Vince

For an additional data point regarding the AMEX monthly dining credit, this worked for monthly subscription to Peet’s coffee on-line purchase (similar to your Illy experience?). At the time this stacked with a dedicated Peet’s offer (something like $5 off of $15 x 3 uses).

I maintain my own spreadsheet as well. Have the 10% Lowe’s offer on several cards. I logged in today on the cards where I haven’t used the offer and it says the end date is July 31! My spreadsheet says June 30, your cheat sheet says June 30, so I called and the rep confirmed July 31. I swear they extended this offer!

Darin

Can confirm. Have this loaded on two of my cards, had also noted the deadline as 6/30. Just logged in and both cards are now 7/31.

Cathy

Wine Insiders cash back needs to be purchased separately. I only got $30 cash back for the $60 purchase.

Darin

I’m having a really hard time with the Wireless statement credit. I have Verizon, but making a partial payment with a credit card removes the $20 discount ($10/line) for auto-pay. PPK would have been a great alternative, but you can’t use Amex with PPK. I read some positive DPs about ordering accessories on the VZW website, tried that last month and it didn’t work – reached out to Amex who said the merchant provided MCC indicated it was not for wireless service (vendor showed Verizon Wireless, so they must now use different codes for equipment/accessories).

Any RECENT success with gift cards, either online or in person? Between here and DOC, DPs seem inconsistent and/or dated. Anybody find other options for VZW folks with AutoPay discounts?

Dividendwayfarer

Not sure if the math is correct on BBP $25 back plus 1K MR for amazon purchase. It should be $25 + $20 from points (valued at 1c) which will be less than 11%.

Brant

Hey Greg! Really great breakdown of these promos! However, would it be easier if AMEX just gave use the money?
By the way, you might want to refine your “fefine” to dining.

paulinLA

thanks so much. forgot about Best Buy and Dell AOs. just bought a bunch of new power strips for the house to replace 10+ year old ones. much appreciate the reminder!

L T

Stag Leaf Winery: spend $300 or more and get $90 back. Those wine are pricey, but they are on sale right now.

Eddy Cue

Curious as to whether the Saks offer truly stacks (ie PayPal $30 + the $50 card benefit). My assumption is that it wouldn’t stack since the card benefit needs to be via the retailer directly and not a digital wallet (PayPal). Has this been confirmed?

Ben

The small details…
I made $241 order from Home Depot.
There was no Shipping Home available so I paid few dollars for Scheduled Delivery.
It turns out that scheduled delivery is one of the exception and I lost $100 refund.
After long chat with Amex I was able to get back $25.
Read the small letters.

We’ve been dinged a couple times lately by orders that exceeded the minimum spend level, but then got posted in sub-minimum-spend pieces by the merchants (I’m looking at you Amazon, I’m looking at you Bestbuy…) Not all offers cumulate spend, and for those that don’t, this kind of merchant posting will mean that the credits will not post automatically. This is true even when the original order clearly states the combined amount and the “Congratulations! You just used your Amex Offer” e-mail has been received.

Both times we were able to sort this out via Chat — thank you, Amex — but, jeez. In anticipation of the day when Amex decides to play hardball, we are no longer opening these “freebies” until the credits post, lest this nonessential stuff turn out not to be so free after all.

tim

This is so useful – thanks for posting!

Best Buy $100 offer
From Drew 3 months ago: “Sadly best buy only allows store pickup for Amazon gift cards so the credit won’t post.”
Is this specific to Amazon GC? I thought I had read a comment at some point saying you could buy 3rd party GCs online for pickup and get the 2X $50 credit offer.

SgFm

I ordered an Amazon GC for pick up at BB and got an automated message from Amex confirming I’d get the $50 credit. But, I canceled the order after reading this and ordered a BP gas card for delivery instead. Curiously, I have gotten the $30 PayPal credit from Amex when ordering the $50 Amazon GC for pick up from BB twice now.

Jay

How did you reach this conclusion: “Instead, make sure to spend $112 or more at Dell each 6 months.” Thanks!

Drew

Hey Greg –
Do you know if the Amex Consumer Plat Offer at the Container Store (Spend $150 or more, get $50 back. Up to 2 times (total of $100)) can combined in a single order to receive $100 back or does this require 2 x $150 spending trips to get the $100 in credits?

Richard

Home Chef reports the Swagbucks sign up code has expired, however, you can sign up through Rakuten and get $10 plus 1k MR points per $50 gift card.

steve

Problem with utilizing $15 Amex Uber Cash credits. I have an existing gift card balance in my Uber Cash account. they add $15 Amex Credit each mont. I place an Uber Eats order. They deduct the charge from my gift card balance and not the $15 Amex credit. At the end of the month they expire the $15 Amex credit. It’s nuts!
I have explained it to Uber support in 3 messages and they still don’t get what I am explaining. Ridiculous. Any one have same issue and any success getting them to add your expired credits back that should have been used?

steve

Worth a shot. Just did that, will see what happens after my next Uber/Uber Eats order.

ssss

The Lowes offer says it excludes corporate gift cards, so doesn’t that mean the promo excludes gift cards? Thanks!

jiajia

If i buy 3rd party gift card online, can i get lowes credit?

ssss

Has anyone figured out how to use the Hilton credit from your home? Starbucks credits as gift card which doesn’t qualify. Fluz has $10 minimums. Thanks!

Drew

Hey Greg – When you used your Uber Eats credit to buy a gift card on Fulz, are you required to buy an Uber Eats card for the Amex Plat to identify the spend?
Can you stack your paypal credit and Uber Eats credit when purchasing a Fulz gc?

Ben

Anyone having issues getting Google Fi bills credited? I charged my Fi bill to my Bonvoy Business AMEX in Feb and Mar, but no dice seeing a credit triggered.

Ben

Contacted AMEX yesterday and they pointed the finger at Fi for coding the purchases incorrectly even though I offered to produce receipts proving it’s for wireless.

Jorge L

Super!!

the ATT bill is now going to the Amex Hilton card!

REPPED and thanks !

David

If we use the $20 dining credit for the Brilliant / Aspire cards, then do we lose the hotel credits and/or flight credits?

Alex

I think this is a super idea. Thank you. Do you find any offers/opportunities for those of us who live in Canada? Maybe a Canada specific thread? Thanks again.

Jeff

For the Best Buy offer, the post is clear about not doing Best Buy e-gift cards, but does that mean that third-party e-gift cards like Uber or DoorDash are okay and will trigger the credit? Has anyone tried? Or should we stick to only physical gift cards?

Jeff

Also, would stacking with the PayPal credit work? Buy a $50 gift card, pay with the Platinum card through PayPal, get $80 total in credits?

hi, i tried to stack paypal and bestbuy, bought $50+ at bestbuy.com using paypal checkout and ONLY the paypal offer/credit triggered. i still have not received a bestbuy credit so my assumption is, it isn’t going to trigger. going to place another bestbuy order with regular checkout, not paypal.

Tagyoureit

Does stacking work (+1 from above)?

I thought I used the Home Depot offer as I placed an online order with shipping for over $50, but then Home Depot shipped the order in 3 different shipments with 3 charges under $50. Does anyone have experience if Amex will credit the $50 if the final charge is not $50 as I now see 3 separate lower charges from HD to Amex in my account. I have the original order showing charge over $50 to the Amex Plat.

Justmeha

I had a similar experience with home chef. You might be able to chat and upload your receipt in order to prove that it was one order. If not you can either ask home Depot to rebill you or, at least in my experience, you will not receive the statement credit.

BenA

I tried to get HD to rebill but would not. Then chatted with AMEX and was told that I would receive the $50 credit but have not received it yet. Was given usual that may take up to 6 weeks.

BenA

No ,have not received the rebate yet. Since I just chatted with amex 2/25, thought I would give it another week. The charges were from 2/14. I did do the BestBuy credit and received it in 2 days after posted but it was for over $50. Wonder if Amex has to do manually more if charges under $50?

Dave

I’m American but live in the UK now so many of the new covid offers and bonuses don’t work for me (i.e. doordash, uber credits, etc). I do have $55 worth of monthly US Restaurant credits. I was excited to see I could use it by adding to my starbucks and dunkin donuts app. I added money on Feb 11th but have not seen a credit. I’m hoping it is just slow.

If these work are there any other ones out there I can take advantage of since I’m not in the US (chick fil a gets blocked from the UK)? If not, I’ll have a nice pile of $$ for donuts when I go back to the States : )

Billy Bob

Try using a VPN to access Chic-fil-a.

[…] Amex Offer Cheat Sheet:  There have been a number of useful Amex offers recently.  Many of them are easily used and some not so much.  Here’s a great guide on how to max them out and still earn your points. […]

Drew

Sadly best buy only allows store pickup for Amazon gift cards so the credit won’t post

Jan W

This is a great resource! Would never have known about the JetBlue offer for Amex Blue Biz. Never fly with them, but noted I could transfer to others, so easy 3000 points to pass along to someone else…

kristin

anyone had luck using the $5 Hilton Honors credit? The min reload on my starbucks app seems to be $10.

IBHmgb

I used at a physical location (spent about $25) on 2/1. Got redemption email confirmation on same day. But no statement credit yet.

Ben

I used Fluz to purchase a $5 Dunkin Donuts GC. Sometimes they sell $5 GCs, but often their minimum is $10. Check it for a few days in a row and I’ve been able to get $5 ones in Feb and Mar.

Jennifer

Mine credited for February and March. Had a gift card for one place that didn’t cover the balance, so charged something like $5.69 to HH card and got the credit. March I think it was Starbucks in-store.

Gene

Thanks, guys. This is very helpful!

Demflyers

Wineinsiders $30 is worth a mention too!

Phantoms

I ended ip doing an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the offers and when I used them, I can’t keep up anymore!

WR2

Are you sure Chick Fil A app works to trigger Bonvoy/HH restaurant credit? Still waiting on a reload to credit.

Peter Falk

Thanks a lot, I am not able to go back to the US until November so thought I would not be able to use the Restaurant credit on my card, now I can, again thanks

king

verizon physical gift card from online works when checkout as guest. Last year , i got all the credits for platinum wireless benefit

This is awesome! Thanks!

Ben

@Greg,
Just want to double-check. There are multiple offers that are intended for few transactions (2x$50 or 3x$50). It says that you can get it with one $100 or $150 transaction. Are you sure it works?
Thank you!

pdxluver

Home Chef only credit $50 out of $170 order but my bestbuy did credit $100 for 1 order.

Drew

It looks like the SBs offer for Home Chef has expired.

Anthony

Is Amex taking longer to pay out on the Amex Offers? I redeemed several and it is taking much longer now than the usual couple days.

Dublin

Same here

IBHmgb

It seems so. I redeemed the dinning $10 offer loaded on my Hilton Surpass on 2/1. I received the redemption confirmation on same day but until now, 2/8, Amex didn’t post the $10 statement credit.

NK3

There seems to be issues with the Paypal credit. Data points online seem to indicate it was loaded as a single credit of up to $30 rather than a recurring one. I used my credit last month and made charges on 2/1, no credit yet. I guess people who used up a portion of their credit last month are only being credit for the unused portion from last month.

EricF

$300 Hyatt GC purchased at Hyatt Place front desk 1/30/21 after loading offer. Received an email dated the same date stating “you just redeemed your Amex offer for Hyatt… you’ll see a credit of $60”. No credit on statement as of 2/8/21.

EricF

The $60 credit is now on the statement

DaninMCI

A post with targeted offers is interesting but the targeted ones are, well, targeted. For example, you missed the Amex Gold offer that I have for $60 off $300 Hyatt spend or the $100 back from $500 spend at Mandarin Oriental. I have over 100 offers available on each of my various types of Amex cards but none of them match the ones you mention except the $10 restaurant dining credit and the Sunbasket offer. Most of the offers are crap and mostly at places I’ve never heard of. Gone are the days where you could sign up for the various offers through the back door with Amex.

SgFm

Last year purchase of an in store physical Verizon GC triggered the $20 monthly wireless credit on my consumer Platinum card. I don’t have any Amex business cards, so I can’t test it with the current offer though.

WR2

You can also pay $20 towards anyone’s Verizon bill, just need their phone number and zip code. Always triggered credit for me.

nick

@WR2: do you know if this nullifies the autopay discount (requires either debit or VZW CC)? VZW is notorious for charging the amount you would have saved on the following month’s bill if you paid a smaller amount with a CC and paid the balance with a debit card.

Alessandro

I copied it from Verizon Wireless website….

Can I make a one-time payment, even if I’m set up for Auto Pay?
Yes, you can make a one-time payment virtually any time, even if you’re set up for Auto Pay.

If you make a one-time payment for the full amount of your balance, your next Auto Pay payment will be skipped. If your one-time payment is less than the balance due, the remainder will be paid via Auto Pay.

Keep in mind:

  • If you make a one-time payment near your Auto Pay date and your automatic payment is already in process, you’ll see a message letting you know that making the payment may result in a duplicate payment.
  • If you’re getting the $5 or $10/month Auto Pay discount and you use a credit card to make a one-time payment online or through the My Verizon app, the removed discount will appear as a charge on your next bill.

Visit our How to use Auto Pay page to learn how to make a one-time payment.
