Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card Recent better offer: Expired 3/14/22: 100K after $10K spend in 6 months + $200 credit for vacation rental spend in first year FM Mini Review: This card offers annual rebates that easily mitigate the fee for those who travel often. Authorized users are free and also get access to perks like Priority Pass, Capital One Lounges, Plaza Premium lounges, and more. The card earns 2 "miles" per dollar on most purchases just like the Capital One Venture Rewards card, which are worth exactly 1 cent each toward travel. This makes the return on most spend similar to a 2% cash back card (though in this case you must redeem your miles to offset travel in order to get 1 cent per mile). One huge advantage over cash back: Capital One allows transfering their "miles" to airline miles & hotel points. Card Type: Visa Infinite Earning rate: 10X on hotels and rental cars booked via Capital One Travel ⚬ 5x on flights booked via Capital One travel. ⚬ 2X everywhere else. Noteworthy perks: Up to $300 in statement credits annually for bookings made through Capital One Travel ⚬ 10,000 bonus miles each year starting at first anniversary ⚬ Receive up to $100 application fee credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® ⚬ Priority Pass membership (Lounges only) with unlimited guests ⚬ Plaza Premium lounge access ⚬ Premier Collection Hotel bookings ($100 experience credit, daily breakfast for 2 and other premium benefits) ⚬ Cell phone insurance ⚬ Trip delay / cancellation insurance ⚬ Primary CDW coverage ⚬ Redeem miles for travel at value of 1 cent per mile ⚬ Convert "miles" to airline miles & hotel points ⚬ No foreign transaction fees (For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the above benefits are provided by Visa(R) or Mastercard(R) and may vary by product. Just applied. 812 credit score. Denied. I think this is only the 2nd credit card I’ve ever been rejected for, and it was so long ago for the 1st that I can’t even remember what it was or when. 🙁 I can only guess that it’s the credit card applications from 2022. I’ve always avoided Capital One because of the triple hit to my credit reports. Guess I should have continued that.
Love the show Nick and Greg, just applied via your link. Keep up the great work!!!
I stumbled into a bit of a hack with the travel credit… So I booked a flight & immediately realized I needed to book on Amex plat due to long layover in SLC & only one lounge available.
I cancelled the flight I booked within 15 min, but the trigger to use the travel credit must be immediate because it showed up against the cancelled flight the following day.
After the flight was 100% refunded, the travel credit was also refunded, but I had a balance in my account from costco, and the travel credit wiped out the costco balance..
Seems like a glitch, but there is a round-about way of travel credit being used to offset a non-travel purchase..
Yeah, that kind of thing can work for lots of card travel credits. But regarding the Amex Plat, why did you need to book on the Amex Platinum? You don’t need to have booked your flight with that card to get lounge access.
Yeah – brain fart… I somehow conflated setting Delta as airline for incidental fees, and using that to get my wife into the sky lounge on this trip with actually booking the ticket.. Oh well, had already cleared bonus on venture X and still have a little to go on the plat, so I guess it worked out anyway.
I noticed in trying to use my $300 travel credit that hotel rates are about 20% higher than a direct reservation. You do get 10x in Cap One miles, but still, it’s a bit annoying as you lose any benefits from booking directly through a hotel.
They will price match: “ Flight, hotel, and rental car purchases made through Capital One Travel are eligible for price matches if you find a cheaper itinerary elsewhere and let us know within 24 hours of booking through Capital One Travel”
Does this work with autoslash too?
Can you book autoslash through portal? If not, I would think no. That’s the one caveat – they’ll price match, but have to be able to get to a booking in the portal to activate
Why does this have such a lower first year value estimate, compared to the regular venture, when right now they have the same welcome offer and same effective annual fee?
A question on the $200 vacation rental spend:
Are there limitations or can I just book an AirB&B or Vrbo and pay with the card?
Do I have to book through the Cap One travel portal?
Same question from me … anyone know the answer?
You can just book and pay with the card.
Thanks.
applied today using link from best deal site. So hopefully someone at FM got a bonus. New to Capital One.
yep, rejected. 800+ credit score. Maybe didn’t like that I have opened two cards already this year.
I applied when the card was first announced and was rejected. Figured I’d give it another try using your link since the offer is about to be pulled. Dinged again. Oh well, I have opened a lot of cards recently, Amex in particular.
Just applied and got rejected. Credit score 820-850. I am not sure for what reason. Is there a number to call for reconsideration?
Just applied & was approved immediately. Within seconds – thanks!
Just applied using your link, got rejected :/
Credit score : 800 / 803 / 813 (from the 3 crediting reporting bureaus).
Last Credit card application: October 2019.
Any other Capital One cards?
None. This would have been the first.
I got the venture X card. Question is how get & use Hertz President’s Circle status when renting a car as nothing on my capital one account mentions it?
Home>View Rewards>Discover Travel>scroll down to Hertz.
Used your link. Instant approval. Second card from Cap One. Thanks for all the information you guys provided.
With Cap One, does the person referring you have to have the same card for which you are applying? My bro-in-law only has a business card.
Used your link, approved instantly. I’m exactly 5/24, with recent approval on 9/3.
Just got approved in five minutes–which is impressively fast since I have a fraud alert after someone filed our 2016 taxes before we did! I applied at 4:18, received alerts within minutes from all three credit bureaus (slight Ugh), Capital One called me at 4:20 to confirm identity, and I received a congratulations email at 4:23. Chase recently declined P2’s CSP app after numerous follow up calls and SMs from him–it took five weeks to even get a clarification of what happened to the application. Five weeks versus five minutes…CapOne FTW!
So I completed the bonus for the Venture One this week. I opened the One June 3rd. I’d like to apply for the X now but I’ve read they may not approve a second card if you’ve opened another within six months. Do you think the offer will be pulled before my 6 month window or should I roll the dice and apply now? Thanks for all you’ve done and do.
Six months has historically been the rule, but many people have been approved for the Venture X despite having opened another Capital One card within 6 months. It seems they aren’t applying that rule to this card — I think it’s worth a shot now.
@Nick Reyes I see below you’ve gotten this card. Does the enhanced hotel gift card redemption option still show on your (or your wife’s) account even after getting the Venture X? Don’t want to risk it
How does Cap1 treat this card for those with the Cap1 Venture card? P2 got the Venture card ~6 mo ago and I’m wondering if there’s an opportunity to get this bonus as well…
Yes, you can get both. My wife had both a Venture and VentureOne (and a Spark Cash card) and got approved for the Venture X. More on that and other frequently asked questions:

I used your link and got instant approved. Second cap one card! Interesting application questions. I made sure to say I occasionally carry a balance. I couldn’t figure out how to get a referral link but that’s ok. Thank you for all your great work.
Congrats! You can get your referral link by logging in to your account, clicking to view your Venture X card (like the page that shows your transactions on the card), clicking “I want to…” and then finding the section that says “refer a friend”. Note that you will only receive referral points if the person you refer does not currently have any Capital One cards. More detail in this post:

Just applied through your link and got approved!
Congrats!
I trust they will remove or reduce the cash advance upon request?
I don’t know, I’ve never tried.
P2 just applied thru your link – instant approval. Thank you.
status was: 3/24 (now 4/24), had 1 new personal card in last 12 mo and 4 in last 24 mo.
High CL and cash advance. Seemed to remember an old online account for a savings account from 10 years ago – and the login still worked!!
Maybe I will give it a go too …
If you give it a go also and you don’t yet have a Capital One credit card, you’ll want to generate a referral link from her account as she’ll get 25,000 miles for referring you. If you already have a Capital One credit card, she unfortunately won’t get referral credit.
Wow !! thanks for that advice. Just reminds me why I love Frequent Miler !!
I was considering the Citi Premier as I don’t need to worry about 5/24 anymore – I have 327 Chase cards now – or so it seems, anyway!
I like the Premier and all, but after $10K spend you’ll have 120K miles with access to almost all of the same transfer partners as Citi and a few more. And your P2 will get an extra 25K miles if you qualify for that and use their referral.
Seems a much better deal than the Premier to me. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Premier. And two $395 fees isn’t cheap. But I think it’s worth it.
You are right. I will wait for her card to come, generate the referral and give it a go.
I am at an unusual point right now, having just completed all spending for the bonuses on all recent cards, so why not? After all it’s 6 months to spend the $10K.
OK, I took your advice (couldn’t wait) and applied via P2’s referral code and … instant approval.
Thanks again.
Nick my wife has an old capital one she will be closing. After she closes that card and I refer her will I get the referral bonus or do they have some “memory” of relationship
Good question @Stan. I have no idea. Let us know how it works out!
Used your link for P2 wife…approved! 802 CR with 7 new cards in last year!
Terms don’t say whether the $300 credit is annual are cardmember based which is kind of significant for first year. Do you guys know the answer?
And… does the $300 benefit transfer to each authorized user, like the lounge benefit?
It is cardmember year and no you don’t get multiple $300 credits for each authorized user. That would be wonderful, but CNB was the only bank I recall ever doing that (and it eventually died). Your AU’s spend should trigger the $300 credit though if they book through Capital One Travel….though I’m not sure they can since you have to log in to book and I don’t think their AU card will show up within your login or theirs to pay on Capital One Travel.
